View out of the window

View out of the window, Germany, January 2024

How did you get this picture?

First of all, I took a photo. It was the view from my window here on a day when there were gigantic clouds in the sky.

I turned this picture into black and white and had it printed (as I don't have a printer myself). When it arrived I refined it with watercolors. Interesting to use watercolors again after decades.

Then I edited it further with Lightroom and Photoshop. The yellow dots on the right are turmeric.

This picture showed me that you can do much more than just take photos. There are basically no limits to creativity.

I am well aware that this picture was a finger exercise. But I still like the result. Every beginning has something special. The journey has begun...........

Where should pictures find their place?

Where should pictures find their place?

Some pictures look great on the wall at home. Galleries are the best place for some pictures.

There are many pictures that enjoy a life in books.

Today's picture will probably live on in my blog. Maybe I'll print it out. Then it will live on my desk or on a shelf for a while.

There are also pictures that have only found a good place in a drawer.

Today's picture has seen the light of day. May it bring joy or at least a bit of surprise.

I myself am surprised by today's creation.

Berlin trip

Last week I was at a meeting in Berlin. I walked around a lot. I really enjoyed a visit to the zoo. I now only photograph meals for private use. It's good to breathe different air again. Other places inspire me.

Now I'm back at home.

Now I can get on with my projects.

Instead of photographing the world, I want to edit my pictures artistically.

A rainy day

Germany, Munich, Dec 2023 - Cosy Café

It had been raining all day. I left the house anyway with my camera around my neck. Rain is so much more atmospheric than sunshine. I'm glad that the cafés are open again and you can take a break.

10.000 steps with my Phone

It is snowing. If you wrap up warm, it's really fun to be outside and watch the dancing snowflakes.

The reality is sometimes so enchanting that you don't want to change a thing.

Time and again, I've taken off my gloves, pulled out my phone and captured winter moments.

A walk like this is an exercise in being attentive.

Bakasana in the poppy field

Germany in summer time 2023, Bakasana in the poppy field

Do not rot at home.

Go out.

Enjoy life.

Nature is there for everyone.

The sun. The rain. The wind.

Breathe.

Looking up, looking down.

Keep walking.

Stay relaxed.

Black and white

Germany, Munich, parc, Jun 2023

Summer is here.

It's hot outside and sunny.

In the parks the predominant color is green. Green is not so my color. Then I prefer a black and white picture. It is more expressive.

This could be the beginning of a project: 30 days of black and white pictures. When the color is gone the light, the composition and the contrast is even more important.

Staying curious is important........

Wednesdays in Munich

Munich downtown, July 2022

Since more than 2 years people demonstrate for their basic rights of physical integrity. They demonstrate for the right to decide on their own which medical treatment they want and which not.

Thousands joined the protests everywhere on that globe.

The smoke in the picture is fun and it smelled of strawberries.

Walks

These pictures were taken during the last week. I take long walks with my camera almost every day. The walk is often the same, yet the weather changes every day, my mood is different, the time of my walks change, so do the pictures.

Green is not so much my favourite color, so I changed the picture into black and white ones.

On the road again

Berlin, Dorint Hotel, April 2022

It’s possible to travel again. I went to Berlin for a couple of days in April. I saw friends and walked around a lot. I like hotel rooms as a background. I was alone there, but I didn’t feel lonesome.

A Saturday in April 2022

Happy and exhausted I’m sitting at my desk.

Today was another demonstration against mandatory vaccination. On Thursday will be the final vote at the parliament. So many people went out to demonstrate against this law that would violate our basic right of physical integrity. It was cold today. snow flakes fell from the sky. The atmosphere was fantastic. Drummers gave the rhythm. Many had whistles. The organisers played music.

At 2am the demonstration should start, yet the beginning was postponed. The organiser were still looking for security guards. They had to control that people wore masks. Finally everything was OK and we could go. The tour was great, it went through Schwabing. One must be fit. To walk two hours can be exhausting, but it’s doable. And it’s also fun to meet so many well-informed people. It’s easy to get in contact and to chat.

Thank you to everybody who joined today.

A meditative practice

Germany, March 2022

Times are turbulent, almost revolutionary.

People fear infections. There is war at many places on that globe. Poverty is a huge issue. Times are unstable. I read the news every day for hours. Journalists are often inflamer. Conflicts is the business.

In order to relax I take long walks. My camera slows down my walks. I’m looking for atmosphere. Taking picture takes me out of my head into reality.

Walking around with a camera is an almost therapeutic practice.
